What Is Bubble Text?

Bubble text (also called circled text or enclosed letters) is a text style where each character appears inside a circular shape. These aren't images — they're real Unicode characters from the Enclosed Alphanumerics block (U+2460–U+24FF) and the Enclosed Alphanumeric Supplement block (U+1F150–U+1F169).

Because they're standard Unicode, bubble letters can be copied and pasted into any text field — social media bios, messaging apps, gaming platforms, documents, and more. No special software or font files needed.

Bubble Text Styles Available

Ⓦⓗⓘⓣⓔ Ⓒⓘⓡⓒⓛⓔⓓ — White Circled

Lowercase letters enclosed in white circles. The classic bubble text style with the widest compatibility. Covers a-z and digits 0-9.

🅝🅔🅖🅐🅣🅘🅥🅔 — Negative Circled

White letters on filled dark circles. A bolder, more eye-catching style. Covers uppercase A-Z from the Enclosed Alphanumeric Supplement block.

Platform Compatibility

Bubble text works on most modern platforms, but compatibility varies by style. White circled letters (ⓐⓑⓒ) have the broadest support and work on Instagram, Discord, TikTok, WhatsApp, Twitter/X, Facebook, and most gaming platforms. Negative circled letters (🅐🅑🅒) are from a newer Unicode block and may show as empty boxes on older devices.

For maximum compatibility, use styles marked “Safe” or “Mostly safe” in our generator. These have been tested across iOS, Android, Windows, and macOS.

Limitations of Bubble Text

  • White circled letters only cover lowercase a-z and digits 0-9. Uppercase letters, punctuation, and special characters pass through unchanged.
  • Negative circled letters cover uppercase A-Z only. There are no negative circled lowercase letters in Unicode.
  • Bubble text works best with short text — single words, usernames, or brief phrases. Long paragraphs can be hard to read.
  • Screen readers may not interpret bubble characters correctly — avoid using them for critical information.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is bubble text?
Bubble text is a text style where each letter appears enclosed inside a circle — like ⓗⓔⓛⓛⓞ. These are real Unicode characters from the Enclosed Alphanumerics block (U+2460–U+24FF), not images or custom fonts. Because they're actual characters, you can copy and paste them into any text field on any platform.
Is bubble text a real font?
No — bubble text is not a font file you download or install. It uses Unicode Enclosed Alphanumeric characters that are built into every modern operating system. Your device already has these characters. Our generator simply converts your regular letters into their circled Unicode equivalents.
Can I use bubble text on Instagram?
Yes! Bubble text works in Instagram bios, captions, comments, and display names. The white circled style (ⓐⓑⓒ) has good support across iOS and Android. Note that bubble text only covers lowercase letters a-z — uppercase letters will pass through unchanged.
Does bubble text work on Discord?
Discord has excellent Unicode support, making it one of the best platforms for bubble text. You can use it in usernames, server names, channel names, and messages. Both white circled (ⓐ) and negative circled (🅐) styles render well on Discord.
Why don't some bubble characters appear correctly?
Unicode only defines circled versions for lowercase letters (a-z), uppercase letters (A-Z in negative/filled circles), and numbers (0-9). Special characters like punctuation, emojis, or accented letters don't have circled equivalents in the Unicode standard, so they pass through unchanged. Very old devices may also lack the fonts to render enclosed characters.
Is bubble text supported on iPhone and Android?
Yes. Both iOS (iPhone/iPad) and Android support Unicode Enclosed Alphanumeric characters. White circled letters (ⓐⓑⓒ) have the broadest support. Negative circled letters (🅐🅑🅒) are from a newer Unicode block and may not render on very old OS versions, but work fine on iOS 10+ and Android 7+.
What is the difference between bubble text and circled text?
They're essentially the same thing. 'Bubble text' is the popular name users search for, while 'circled text' is the technical Unicode term. Both refer to letters enclosed in circles. Our generator includes both white circles (ⓐ) and filled/negative circles (🅐) so you can choose the style you prefer.
